Malayalam has so many Literatures, like Novel, Stories, poems, Short stories
etc. Duration of the first Malayalam
literatures are given below.
HORTUS MALABARICUS
Hortus malabaricus is a famous book in which Malayalam language is
initially printed .The author of book is Dutch Governor of Cochi named Hendrik
Van Rheede. The first volume of this book is printed in Amsterdam of holand in 1678. There are total
12 volumes. The book mainly tells about the medicinal plants of kerala in latin
language. Names of medicinal plants are also known as Malayalam language .This
books is known in an another name as “Keralaramam “Dr K .Manilal translated in
this books in Malayalam and English
KUNDHALETHA
The first Novel in Malayalam is ‘kundhaletha’ written by Appu nedugadi
in1877. The first perfect Novel in Malayalam is ‘Indhulakha’written by a
‘O.Chandumenon’in 1889.
MARTHANDA VARMA
The first Historical novel is written by C.V.Raman Pillai in 1891 named
as ‘Marthanda varma’.This novel in written on the basis of a book named ‘Leven
Ho’ of Sir.Walter scoth.
PARAPURAM
‘Parapuram’ is the first ‘political novel’
written by ‘K. Narayana kurukkal’ in 1994.
SMKSHEPA VEDARTHAM
Samkshepa
vedartham is the first book printed in Malayalam language. The author is
clement perthari ;in 1722 at rome
.The book tells about the conversation between a teacher and student in
Christian style.
RAMA CHARITHAM
Under the
discoveries the oldest ‘pattu krithi’(Epic poem) is Ramacharitham; The author is ‘chiraman’
.Which is from youdhakandam of Ramayana
UNNUNEELI SANDESAM
The first
‘Sandesa kavyam ‘(Massage poem) in Malayalam isUnnuneeli sandesam. The author
is UN known.
UNNIYACHI CHARITHAM
Champu is the combination of “poem and narrative” .The first champu in
Malayalam ‘Unniyachi charitham’’.The author is un known.
KRISHNAGATHA
Krishnagatha
which is also known as krishnapatt , the auther ‘cherusseri’. The books tells
about the life of ‘Lord Sreekrishna’.This is written is 15 th century .It is
the first ‘brahathkavyam’ in Malayalam.
ALLMARATTAM
The first
drama in Malayalam ‘Allmarattam’ another name is the ‘oru nalla keli salapam’
.Written by kallur umman phillippos in 1866.This book is the translation of
“Shakespeare” of comedy of errors .which is published
in1866.
SEETHALAKSHMI
In 1926 ‘Seethalakshmi’ which is the first ‘Historical
drama’ in Malayalam, Written by ‘E.V Krishnapilla.’
PATTABAKI
In 1926 Pattabaki which is the first ‘Political
drama’ in Malayalam written by K.Damodahran.
KERALAPAZHMA
The first ‘kerala historical book’
‘ Kerala Pazhama’ written by “Dr Herman gundert” in 1868.
VASANAVIKRUTHI
1n 1891 ‘Vengayil kunhiraman
nayanar’ written Vasanavikruthi which is the first short story
RAJYASAMACHARAM
The first
news paper in Malayalam ‘Rajyasamacharam
in 1847, “Dr Herman gundert” published at thalassery in kannurdistrict
of kerala.
DICTIONARY
The first Malayalam dictionary is written
by a Malayalam . Named Rev .George Matthan in 1863.But first Malayalam- English
dictinory is prepared by “Dr.Herman gundert”.
SEETHANKAN THULLAL
In thullal type the first book is
‘Kalyanasowgandhikam’ seethankan thullal in 18 th century. Written by ‘kunjan
nambiyar’
NALLABHASHA
Nalla bsha is the initial book for best
Malayalam federation ,the author is kunjikuttan thamPuran. It is published
in1066 in vidhyavinodini magazine.In best Malayalam federation only Malayalam
words are used.
VANJI PATTU
‘Kuchelavritham’ Vanji pattu
is initial book in Vanji pattu presthanam , the author is Ramapurathu Warrier.
It is in18 th century it is published that book is written under the orderd
king Marthandavarma.
